Apple's first foldable iPhone changes the usual upgrade decision. Instead of choosing between a larger iPhone and carrying a separate tablet, buyers can consider whether one foldable device can cover both needs. That makes it particularly relevant to premium tech enthusiasts, executive power users, content creators, early adopters, and Apple loyalists. It’ll be a great choice for those who want flagship productivity, tablet-sized multitasking, and an ultra-thin folding design without giving up iPhone portability.
Apple introduced the iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. Global pre-orders begin October 16, with availability starting October 23. However, Bangladesh is not among the initial official markets, so local buyers need to consider pricing, import status, BTRC requirements, and warranty support before ordering.

The main reason to consider the iPhone Duo is its two-screen design. When closed, the 5.4-inch outer display works as a regular smartphone screen for calls, messages, browsing, and quick tasks. Open the phone and the 7.6-inch inner OLED provides a much larger workspace for documents, video, gaming, and multitasking.
Both displays support ProMotion up to 120Hz, HDR, and Always-On display, with Apple Pencil support planned for later this year. Apple has also designed both screens with the same aspect ratio, helping content move between the folded and open states more naturally.
For content creators and professionals, the benefit is not simply having a bigger display. You can review documents, compare information, edit content, or work across multiple apps without carrying an additional tablet. That is where the Duo's foldable ecosystem becomes more useful than a standard iPhone.
Apple uses a titanium foldable design with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back. At 5.2mm when open and 254g, the Duo is designed to keep the large-screen experience relatively portable. It also has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
However, the hinge deserves particular attention because it is one of the most important parts of any foldable phone. Apple says the Duo was engineered around a precision hinge for a smooth folding experience. For a device that may cost several lakh taka in Bangladesh, hinge construction, display protection, and water resistance should matter as much as processor performance.
The first question is whether you actually need the foldable format. If your current iPhone Pro Max already provides enough screen space, performance, and camera capability, the Duo's premium price is mainly buying you a new form factor and larger workspace.
However, the Duo is more useful if you regularly work from your phone, read documents, manage several apps, edit content, or want tablet-like productivity without carrying two devices. For users who mostly make calls, use social media, take photos, and stream videos, a conventional flagship may already meet those needs.
Apple's US starting price is $1,999 for the base model. Bangladesh does not currently have an official Apple launch price for the Duo. Local estimates vary considerably, with reports putting the expected base price at roughly Tk 3.2 lakh to Tk 4 lakh depending on the seller and import channel. Star Tech currently lists the product as upcoming with the price yet to be announced, while The Daily Star reported an estimated Tk 3.2–3.8 lakh range.
So, do not treat any early Bangladesh listing as the final official price. Import costs, taxes, currency rates, storage capacity, and seller margins can all change the amount.
